Jewelry Care

Wearing Your Jewelry
Katy Beh Jewelry is designed to last for many years to come but all precious jewelry will naturally tarnish and look dull if proper care have not been taken. Always protect your jewelry from knocks, scratches, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold to minimize these effects.

Care Instructions
Remove jewelry when showering or bathing. This is particularly important when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water.
Avoid wearing jewelry when doing physical work such as housekeeping, gardening or exercise.
Never expose jewelry to household cleaning products, especially bleach and highly reactive solutions.
Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray on the gemstones or pearls as it jeopardizes the integrity of the material.
Remove jewelry when applying makeup, creams to avoid the residue getting into the texture or gemstone setting.
Any residue dulls the luster of your ring.
Keep away from extreme temperatures and humidity.

General Jewelry Cleaning
Using a soft, lint free cloth is an effective way to keep your jewelry looking fresh and lustrous. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean metal as they can cause scratching.

Gemstones
Gemstones are all on a different hardness scale. Depending on the gemstone, some can be more sensitive to scratches. Diamond is the strongest followed by sapphire, ruby. If a minor scratch does occur, it can be polished out in most cases.

Since many gemstones are quite delicate, hot water, harsh chemicals and cleaners should be avoided at all times unless using special products that are safe. I advise cleaning your precious stones with a clean, soft, damp cloth after wearing. Very porous stones such as turquoise and emeralds should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean gemstones as they can cause scratching.

Make sure to have a jeweler inspect your gemstone settings every 6 months to avoid any potential loss of gemstones. The settings can be delicate and move when knocked or caught in something.
